Sales and more sales…

We spent an irritating 2 hours at Lakeside today – I hate sales. Why do the shop managers think that sticking all the clothes they have onto one rail is a good selling strategy?

I actually would rather pay the full price for something than have to spend hours looking through racks of shit to find anything that’s half decent. And they don’t do this in the Men’s departments so why should us ladies have to suffer – what’s wrong with leaving it all as it is before the sales with a big sign for each rail to advertise the sale price…and where are all these bargains we have been promised? As far as I can see, anything decent only has a maximum of 20% off it, and to be honest, if I didn’t buy it at full price, 20% off isn’t going to make me buy it.

Still, when we got home The Wrong Trousers was on, so that made up for it!

Speed Limiters Kill!

Here we are again with the government harping on about how speed kills – not excessive speeds for the conditions.

Speed Limiters for Cars

In an ideal world, this might possibly work – but we live in a far from ideal world. The proletariat are even less intelligent than they were 20 years ago and if you tell them that the car will limit their speed, they WILL assume it means they can go to sleep.

What all these do-gooders fail to realise is that SPEED DOES NOT KILL. Excessive speed for the conditions can cause an accident that can kill. For example, a satellite monitoring the speed of a car on a motorway will limit the car’s speed to 70mph – but what if there is a 2 inch covering of snow? The satellites won’t take that into account, and as drivers won’t be used to limiting their own speeds, there will be more accidents. Consider hot summer with rain, then we have a shower – the roads will be greasy and far more slippery than drivers are used to, but a windy road in the country will still probably have a limit of 60mph.

If this gets the go-ahead, it will create MORE accidents.

How long will it be until calls are made to have the same limiter – a whole other topic, but bikes frequently have to accelerate out of potential accident scenarios as car drivers don’t see bikers – mainly because they don’t like bikers.

Ridiculous 999 calls…

Something needs to be done about these idiots who ring 999 for pathetic reasons.

Hoax 999 calls

We need to start punishing these people – let’s charge them with attempted murder, after all, someone could die because the emergency services are dealing with these idiots.

Let’s send them straight to court and get the court to fine them a decent amount like £1,000 – the courts don’t ponce around with £1 a week, they insist on the full amount being paid within hours of the hearing. Let’s start actually getting tough with people – after all, it’s not difficult to NOT call 999…

Christmas Eve

Is it really a big surprise that Sainsburys had all but run out of bread at 4pm on Christmas Eve? Well…quite frankly – yes it is!

Bread lasts a lot longer than the one day Sainsburys is not open so is it really a big deal if they don’t sell it all on Christmas Eve? Surely it makes more sense to keep your customers happy and keep the shelves stocked up throughout the day with the staple foods we need.

Mind you, I have learnt that Sainsburys don’t actually care about their customers anyway, so I really shouldn’t be surprised!

Huntingdon Life Sciences…

At last – this seems to have been going on for ages and the scum involved have finally been convicted.

Personally I think we should go one step further…this scum, sorry, I can’t call them people, are trying to stop the research of potentially life saving drugs through intimidation – add notes to their medical cards that state they should never be treated by the NHS and private hospitals should not administer drugs to this scum.

I appreciate that people don’t like to see animals tested on…I myself am and animal lover and do not agree with animal testing for for cosmetic purposes – however, you have to strike a balance. If we want life saving drugs, they have to be tested on animals before going anywhere near a human and I think that’s an acceptable thing to do…I don’t want to watch or think about because I know it’s a horrible thing to do, but the fact that testing could provide a cure for cancer makes it a sacrifice I believe is worthwhile.

No posts for a while!

I have been a tad slack recently with my posting, but in my defence, I’ve been busy!

We had our Christmas party at work a few weeks ago which was good fun, then over the last week we have been on holiday!

We spent a few days in York visiting family and sightseeing. We went to the National Railway Museum and saw the Mallard, walked through the Bullet and saw the Flying Scotsman being renovated! We also went round the Minster including a little hyperventilating while climbing the 275 spiral steps to the top of the tower and visited the home of Yorkshire tea!

We popped down from there to Oxford to pay a visit to a friend for a few hours then came home before going off to Bedford to visit some more family! We went to the shopping centre at Milton Keynes and visited Bletchley Park – home of the codebreakers! Note to all readers – you get free entry for 12 months from your first visit, which is handy for us as we only turned up at 2pm – it closes at 4pm in the winter! We got back from Bedford yesterday and I went Christmas shopping with my mum today!
